did my dog eat my hamster?

i have no idea where my hamster is. he is a syrian male. he was downstairs, could he get upstairs? and i have a collie, 10 years old. would my dog eat him? And where do you think vanilla would be? my house is pretty cold, would that kill him? there are two rooms downstairs that are very messy. do you think he'd be under the beds or around the toys or in the shoes or buried in the clothes? he was underneath the stairs on a table ( we could see him clearly, no cupboard) and we have a wooden castle that my older brother made for his leaving cert and a load of our school bags. most of the down stairs is wood except for the sitting room, the stairs and the room with all the clothes and shoes. if i laid out boots everywhere would he go in to them? cos i heard that hamsters can't resist a tunnel, and boots are dark. so please help me!!! i know im asking a lot but i really need to find him!!! :'(

I am much more educated in dogs than rodents. I VERY much doubt your dog ate the hamster. He may have played with it and even killed it but he would not have eaten it. Hamsters are sneaky little creatures. He could be anywhere. When I was a kid, my hamster escaped and got into the heating ducts! He probably is in one of the messy rooms..but he could be in the walls, anywhere really. Listen carefully for any rustling. I hope he turns up!
