Wicker Dog Beds: How To Choose The Right One

A dog bed is designed to provide a comfortable sleeping area to your pet. Wicker dog beds have become very popular among dog lovers. Natural Wicker beds are very light, yet sturdy. They are made from renewable material and are recyclable. These dog beds are very environmental friendly and completely biodegradable. You may also have synthetic wicker pet beds made of plastic or resin available to you to choose from.

Wicker pet beds are usually designed as oval or round baskets. They are usually chew-resistant, without sharp edges. Most wicker beds have a soft mattress, cushions and blanket, to keep your pooch warm while sleeping. These cushions are made of washable fabrics. A few dog beds also offer cooling and heating options, to provide relief during extreme weather climates. Frozen gel pads or heated gel pads are placed inside the cushions of these beds to control the temperature. Heated pet beds are especially beneficial for dogs with joint disorders.

Also, wicker pet beds are easy to keep clean. They allow the dog hair, dirt and debris to fall through to the ground for easy cleaning. Pets beds made of wicker can also be painted or dyed to any color. They can blend with your furniture and enhance the aesthetics of your home.

Wicker Dog Beds: Things to Consider Before Buying a Pet Bed

Several reputed online stores offer a wide collection of wicker dog beds. They are available in different shapes and sizes. However, you must consider some important factors before buying a bed for your dog:

Dog Breed

Dogs of different breeds exhibit different behaviors and preferences. Some breeds prefer cozy beds, while others like more space when they sleep. Choose a wicker bed according your dog's preferences.

Age and Size

It is very important to consider the measurement and size of your dog before buying a bed. The bed should be spacious enough to accommodate your dog comfortably. Further, the bed should allow your dog to get in and out easily. Also, consider your dog's age. If your puppy can fit into a small bed, estimate the adult size as the puppy is likely to grow into a large dog. Otherwise you may have to discard the bed in a few months.

If you are someone who loves to travel a lot, you may opt for a dog bed that is very lightweight and portable. This way, your pet can have a familiar space to sleep in even in an unfamiliar environment.

dog kennel bedding?

i've got a plastic dog kennel but what kind of bedding should i put in? if i put in hay or straw it will be too messy. and aslo is a run that is 4ft tall ok for a staffordshire bull terrier? :)

thanks
dogsbestfriend27: i see where your coming from but my dog will not be living in the back yard isolated. she will only be going in the run if we are out and she can't come and the kennel is for her to have shelter. because we don't want her to be in the house in a crate for more than 2 hours.
i was only asking for advice for when i get my puppy. i wasn't going to leave her in a run all day. what would be the point in having a dog!

Your dog should be living in the house with you. Dog's are very social and need to be with family. A 4' tall run isn't going to keep your dog in it. I would not be isolating it out in the backyard. One of the reasons why this breed turns bad. Lack of exercise, training, isolation, etc. Glad that I don't live in your neighborhood when your dog becomes unsocial.

Yahoo posts never give out enough detail for people ot answer sometimes. If you leave your dog out in the kennel when you are not there, make sure that no one would come inside your yard to take the dog. Dogs are stolen out of yards all the time. I keep both of my dogs inside the house, and with an alarm system. I don't have to worry about children also harrassing my dogs either on the other side of the fence. I need to be supervising my dogs. I have my rottweiler and shih tzu.
